Garanti BBVA became the only company from Türkiye to be included in the emerging markets category of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the eighth consecutive year. Integrating sustainability into all its activities and business strategies, Garanti BBVA repeated its success with 82 points in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, in which the company has been listed since 2015. This year, Garanti BBVA obtained the sixth highest score in the global banking sector of the index, which integrates advanced sustainability aspects such as decarbonization targets and financed emissions, making the evaluation criteria more challenging. Garanti BBVA increased its score year-on-year from 75 to 82, confirming the robustness of its sustainability strategy on international platforms.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index, one of the most prestigious platforms for evaluating the sustainability performance of companies worldwide, is an important indicator used by international investors. The detailed analysis of the DJSI evaluates companies according to criteria such as business ethics, corporate governance, financing activities, environmental and social performance within the bank, risk management, climate change actions, transparency, supply chain, human and workers' rights.

For more than 16 years, we have been financing sustainable companies and taking important steps to combat climate change. In this context, we were the first bank in Türkiye to commit to phasing out coal and we joined the United Nations Net-Zero Banking Alliance. We are addressing all aspects of sustainability, from gender equality to energy efficiency, from improving financial literacy to the circular economy, and integrating them into our business practices. We are pleased that our sustainability efforts have been recognized by national and international platforms. We repeated our success in the DJSI and were included in the emerging markets category for the 8th time. We broke our own record with 82 points. Our task this year was a little more difficult. This year, the index also evaluated advanced sustainability issues such as decarbonization targets and financed emissions. In the evaluation, Garanti BBVA once again proved the robustness of its sustainability governance in international platforms with an increase of 7 points compared to last year. The fact that our transparent and sustainable business approach is recognized by DJSI, one of the most respected indices in the international arena, is of great importance for us in terms of the strong relationship we have established with our stakeholders.
